The Dream Center, a drop-in center for homeless and at-risk youth, ages 13-23, provides the following much-needed services for this vulnerable population: a food bank, clothing bank, shower and laundry, counseling and referrals for family reunification, school, and employment.
Case managers work with youth to help them stay in or return to school, build job skills, gain employment, and secure housing, whether to return home or find an alternate stable and safe residence. Staff, volunteers, and other community professionals provide individualized health care screening, education and career counseling, and life skills classes (e.g. conflict resolution, substance abuse prevention, GED preparation, job-seeking skills).
Vine Street Cottage
The Vine Street Cottage provides short-term emergency overnight shelter for homeless youth, 17 and under, for up to 14 nights, while case managers help determine a plan for permanent housing. Family reunification is the favored option, where appropriate.
Irvine House Youth Transitional Housing Facility
Young adults, ages 18-21, may qualify for transitional housing with case management in this facility for those completing education or work training.
